About the 2018 Livable Cities Forum Pop-Up Event

Date: Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 9:00AM - 4:30 PM

Location: Alt Hotel St. John's, 125 Water Street, St. John's NL A1C 5X4

The seventh annual Livable Cities Forum is being hosted as a Pop-Up Event in the City of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Forum is a boutique national event widely known for its high-caliber sessions and diverse speakers on climate change action in Canada.

The 2018 Pop-Up was a chance for us to move the Forum around the country and offer a specific focus on getting started with managing climate risk. Combining plenaries, panel discussions, and workshops, this one day event fostered discussion on climate change adaptation and resilience with a focus on collaborative vulnerability and risk assessment, managing climate risks, and mainstreaming climate change across operations. Not only a hub for knowledge sharing and networking on local resilience, the Pop-Up Forum also represented a preliminary milestone of the Adaptation Changemakers project delivered by ICLEI and funded through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Climate Adaptation Partner Grants available through FCMs Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program (MCIP). MCIP, delivered by FCM and funded by the Government of Canada, is a five-year, $75-million program designed to support and encourage municipalities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. The Adaptation Changemakers Project has brought together 8 communities from across the country to develop locally relevant climate change adaptation strategies. Join us in St. John’s to network with these participating communities and learn from them about their adaptation achievements thus far. Learn more about Adaptation Changemakers here!
